How does a "simple case" usually work?
A simple or friendly case is one where both parties are in agreement over most matters and have no issues concerning custody or property. Often the matter of child support is calculated by the court at the time of the divorce judgment and there is little and often, no community property to divide. In this example of a simple case, Michael Jay and Company will take care of all paperwork and filing on behalf of the Petitioner. The Respondent will have no involvement in the case beyond receiving a copy of the filed papers. In a simple case, the Petitioner is often not required to appear in court, but if a hearing is set to obtain the final judgment, Michael Jay will always personally deliver the required documents to the Petitioner on the scheduled court date.
